A Philippines Airline Boeing 777-330ER on route from Los Angeles International to Manila Airport made an emergency landing due to an engine fire shortly after takeoff yesterday (21st November 2019)

The plane airborne from Los Angeles International Airport at 11.45 local time and retuned just 15 minutes after due to the engine fire.

The aircraft registered RP-C7775 returned to the airport after a passenger spotted flames coming under the wing, after arriving at the airport, the crew managed to disembark all the 342 passengers safely with out any injuries.

Philippine Airline still not reveled any further details regarding the incident and blames it as a “technical fault”.

Although, the Airline said that,
“We greatly appreciate the calmness and patience of our passengers, who cooperated well with our cabin crew during the flight and the emergency landing…We likewise recognize and appreciate the calm professionalism exhibited by our experienced flight and cabin crew, headed by Captain Triston Simeon and Purser Joanne Marie Dirige, in executing the unscheduled landing and taking care of our passengers.”

Philippine Airline is also in talks with Boeing to acquire 777X aircrafts, after the airline done with A340s recently after 22 years of service.
